Scarlett lives her life by playing the odds, and it has served her well so far. It may also serve her in the fight against the Elder Ones! Her unique skill allows her to always try and guess the results of the dice she rolls, getting all manner of advantages when she manages to guess correctly.
Now let’s further explore the contents of this expansion.
PLEASE NOTE ALL FIGURES COME UNPAINTED.
Each new Investigator brings a whole unique twist to playing the game. This varies the experience not only by themselves, but also by how the interact with the different Insanities, and with the other Investigators in the game.
Father Luke is on a mission from God. And that mission is to wipe out any monstrosities that pop into our world. His unique skill makes him perfectly suited to smite evil wherever it may roam, getting bonus dice to his attacks against monsters.
Mary’s resilience is astounding. Having dealt with many hardships in her life, she’s an inspiration to others at the art of “just rolling with it” and getting the job done. Her unique skill allows all nearby Investigators to heal their stress whenever she takes a wound.
Alex Parker is known as a supersleuth by the local police department. Indeed his powers of investigation make him very resourceful in the struggle against the cultists. His unique skill allows him to claim Discovery cards with no expenditure of stress to pass their tests.
Ariele is a single-minded hunter that will go to any lengths to take down her prey. With her unique skill she will name a specific enemy at the start of the game, and then receive all sorts of different advantages as long as she’s engaged with her chosen enemy.
Hailia may not be wise beyond her years (since she’s accumulated lots of years already), but she certainly knows a thing or two about the occult. Her unique skill allows her to use Elder Signs in her rolls to perform such feats as healing herself or harming all enemies around her.
Sergeant Mario Braghieri projects and undeniable aura of authority and menace, even though his collected demeanor. Cultists, naturally inclined to worship power, are inescapably shaken by his presence and end up rolling fewer bonus dice while around Mario.
Sam is a sea of tranquility in the middle of a maelstrom that is threatening to rip the very fabric of reality apart. With his unique skill he makes resting into an art form, recovering extra stress and wounds, and even being able to get some rest in a room full of wriggling tentacles.
The fact that Tony has managed to navigate his way out of an encounter with a land that should not be, in the middle of the ocean, is proof of how skilled he is at moving about. His unique skill grants him extra mobility, flowing through space almost like he’s able to teleport himself.
Margarethe’s knives are as sharp as her mind. When fighting monsters she puts both to good use to obtain exactly the results she needs, adding extra results to her dice rolls.
Adilah’s connection to the “other side” is as real as her connection to the physical world. Using her unique skill, Adliah establishes a permanent bond with one of the other investigators, so that anything affecting them (like resting, being injured, or dying) will echo supernaturally on Adilah, healing her in different ways, and allowing her to intervene in their favor.
The different monsters are the main obstacle the investigators have to deal with (until the Elder One finally crosses over, that is). Each Episode uses the monsters differently, and each possesses different health, attack dice, and a unique ability.
The Tcho-Tcho are vile beings. While they are not the most fearsome fighters, they try to find investigators who have wondered alone and pounce on them viciously.
Nightgaunts are a very real menace. Even if you’re able to withstands them, they can still greatly hinder your mission. If one is attacked but not killed, it proceeds to grab the investigator with its sharp rending claws and carry them off all the way back to the where they started.
The Hounds of Tindalos are a challenge for any human mind to wrap around. Attacking one is almost impossible, unless you’re properly equipped with an item that will help you focus your attack into these beings beyond space and time.
Engaging a Star Vampire in combat is not something anybody would do lightly as you are always at the mercy of being drained of your life, even as you slay the beast. Elder Signs rolled on your attack always count as wounds towards yourself.
A Flying Polyps’s presence is like the constant buzzing of an insect in your ear, burrowing into the deepest reaches of your mind. Their attacks not only harm the flesh, but can knock your sanity a couple notches down the ladder if you already have a Condition.
Among a host of fearsome monsters, the Bokrug stands out as particularly daunting. Any investigator even attempting to attack it must take 2 stress in order to be able to do so (or wounds, in case their stress is at maximum).
The Yugg is a revolting creature you do not want to see crawling over you in any circumstances. Investigators attacked by this creature must immediately either lose sanity or suffer a wound.
The Elder Thing is a nigh-indestructible being. Its physiology stumps investigators who attempt to find its weak spot. With prodigious health, it’s also impossible to inflict more than 3 wounds when attacking the Elder Thing.
The Dimensional Shambler is a creature that revels in exploring the tenuous fabric that bridges dimensions. Portals are their hunting ground, and investigator would be wise to stay clear of them when a Shambler is about. Its attacks are doubled when the target is near a portal.
The 6 Season 2 Episodes take full advantage of all of the new monsters contained in this box to create unique challenges for players. Mixing the new tiles with those of the Death May Die core box, these Episodes explore all new environments, supported by their own unique Discover and Mythos decks, as well as original tokens that help bring about mechanics and actions not found in any other episode.
Ally yourself with gangsters in order to disrupt a ritual taking place inside a Chicago bank vault. Delve into the nameless woods and turn the cultists, campsites into a glorious bonfire. Investigate the suspects in an ancient cathedral to uncover those guilty of ritual murder, and exact some rightful justice! All this and more await you in the Season 2 Episodes.
